CC04 Return of the Cavemen Oman Prt 2

As I think back about the cross-border trips, I can honestly say that if it wasn't for the gear and the exact setup, which I had chosen/developed, none of these trips would have been as memorable as they were.

See, it doesn't matter how much you spent on your vehicle of choice, neither does it matter how expensive your kit is or the gear you carry around.

At the end of the day, the only thing that matters, is that the extension of yourself is reflected in the gear you use. From the tent setup to your fridge setup and general storage. It's what works best for you and your personality.

Yes, I did say personality. You and your vehicle of choice to become one, on trips where the dusty and harsh roads keep on rolling, you start having conversations with your vehicle.

My vehicle of choice was a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara (aka TOTO). I have had many other Jeep Models within the incredible brand lineup, however the excitement and joy while driving this vehicle could not be met by any other. Including Land Cruisers, Pajero's, Xterra's, FJ Cruisers, you name it. Nothing but nothing compared to Toto. The setup was just so bespoke to my requirements and easy to use, I had everything which I needed for a long expedition.  This setup made this an ideal no nonsense 4x4 that could take me anywhere I wanted to go...

My thinking pattern has always been based on the KISS principle... Keep it Simple, Stupid.

I bought what worked. Perhaps not always the 1st choice of gear for other but for me it was perfect.

Looking at reliability, practicality and functionality .... I rarely looked at the cost driven option... because if something had value for you, the price doesn't really matter, especially if you are reliant on the gear. TBC...
